The Jake Walk was an affliction that would happen after consuming a bad batch of Jake. Jake was a popular 1920's - 30's drink from Jamaica. It contained something in it that was not alcohol but it would get you drunk. So it was not subject to prohibition. You could slip off on a Sunday, drink the Jake and have a ball. At some point the stuff they put in jake turned bad and caused the deformed legs of many an unfortunate soul. This was eventually followed by death.
