 Understanding the power of knowledge, Karanja's painting depicts a class room full of young Africans. In the upper right hand corner, a youth, unable to attend class (he must work to bring in money for his family.) sneaks a peek through the open window. Karanja believes that one child robbed of an education is 'one too many.'
