DERYL DANIEL MACKIE

Born July 1, 1949 in Harlem, New york, Mackie was know as a stylized portraiture artist. Mackie trained at the Barnes Foundation and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. In addition to being an established artist, Mackie was also a gallerist, Curator of the Fine Arts at Philadelphia’s Afro-American Historical and Cultural Museum, and an instructor of printmaking. Throughout his career, Mackie has accumulated many awards and fellowships. Some of these include the Eleanor S. Grey Award for Achievement for Still Life, The Cresson European Travel Fellowship, and the Fellowship in Arts Management Enterprises from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. Mackie died on August 5, 2007.

He had been residing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
