MICHEL HOSSZU

Born in October 26, 1944 in Hungary, Hosszu studied at the Estienne School in Paris, from 1964-1966. He moved to New York where he studied photography and discovers Pop Art. After returning to Paris, Hosszu concentrates his research on screen printing and photographic editing, where he develops his technique of multiplication, fragmentation & juxapositioning. It is around this same time that he becomes interested in the emerging mail art scene.

Retaining only the idea of the stamp, Hosszu begins exploring it's possibilities along with silkscreening, helping him to become of a prominent figure in the European mail art scene.

The artist resides in Paris, France.
