NEW WORLD CUISINE RE-IMAGED
An Evening of Food from the African Diaspora
Join U*Space and culinary chef Eric B. West as they turn the gallery into an artistic ‘Chop bar’.
Come explore the fascination exhibition "An Abiding Blackness" as you sample an intoxication array of foods as well as learn more about the history of the samplings Chef West will be preparing. In addition, U*Space will be showcasing the new and powerfully thought provoking & spiritually filling Afro-diasporic artworks of master artist Vernon Robinson Sr. from his new "What if?" collection.
Classically trained, Chef Eric B. West is not only an amazing gastronaut but an above the knee amputee, and activist with over 20 plus years working in places like The Cafe at The Ritz Carlton, Au Pied de Cochon, Buckhead Diner, City Grill, The Omega Institute for Holistic Wellness, and South City Kitchen to name a few. He currently resides in Decatur Ga. where he is an up and coming force with a belief that one must simply "pay it forward".
"A chop bar, in certain parts of West Africa, is a roadside bar/restaurant that also serves as a gathering place for the community. One can go there for a meal, coffee in the morning or drinks at night. It is a place where neighbors can meet, share information and just kick back and have a good time."
Eric B. West is the founder of Kulcha Club a globally inspired dining experience for a cause and Quilombolas a vending operation dedicated to the foods and flavors of the African Diaspora.
